So, since I posted yesterday about my love for David Cook and my hate for the judges that totally dissed him, I feel I need to blog today about my TOTAL AND UTTER EXCITEMENT FOR THE FACT THAT HE IS THE NEW AMERICAN IDOL!!! WEEEEEEEE!!!
Ok, now on to other matters…
Handsome and I put in an application for a new apartment in NYC this week and WE GOT IT!! Woot!! Here’s the back story on our living together and relationship generally:
Handsome and I met in law school during our second year. We didn’t meet our first year because he went to a totally different law school his first year and then transferred. We met pretty early on in our second year, and were “serious” by Christmas. By mid-Spring, we were basically spending every night together in all it’s sinful glory. So, when both of our leases were up in July, we made the decision to move in together. We were spending every night together anyways, and I was having trouble with my roommate. Plus, we could get a larger 1-bedroom in NY together instead of trying to each have studio apartments or convert 1-bedrooms with roommates.
So, we started looking. And, kept looking. And finally decided that maybe a NJ apartment would be a good option — both financially and for my desire for more space. While we looked in Hoboken, it really wasn’t any less expensive than NYC. So, we looked further into NJ and finally settled on an apartment about 25 miles from the city where we could get a huge 2-bedroom for nearly half the price of anything in NYC.
Well, fast foward a year. The lease on the NJ place is nearly up and we have to decide whether or not to renew. Well, Handsome only had one year in the city before we moved 25 miles out. Neither of us lived anywhere near the city before coming out here for school, so he really only had ONE year, as compared to my TWO years. Plus, all of our friends live in the city and he’s working in the city next year and the city is an experience everyone should have.
So, we decided to move back into the city. But I had requirements. First, I’m working in NJ…only across the river, but still in NJ. So, we had to live on the Upper West or Midtown West or somewhere on the west so that I could hop into NJ quickly. Second, I wanted some room. Do I need the 1200 sq. ft. that we have now?? No, and there’s no way I could expect us to afford that in NYC. But more than a shoebox is necessary. Third, I wanted a real kitchen. No, half-sized stove and half-sized fridge and no dishwasher whatsoever. I wanted a real kitchen.
Well, we found the place that fit all my requirements and that Handsome loved also. So, we put in an application late last week and found out we got it!! And we’re signing the lease on Friday.
Now, we have to figure out whether to move ourselves or hire a mover…and what to put in storage because not everything can fit in the new place. Decisions, decisions.
